Those free speech variables would be speech that creates a positive, and not negative, scenario in both long-terms and short-terms. Voltaire, the author of Candide, and Robert Zemeckis, the director of Forrest Gump, both use grotesquely naà ¯ve protagonists to illustrate their view of the world in which they live. Nevertheless, Candide and Forrest, surrounded by a corrupt society, and bombarded by various character defining events, are able to come to a higher understanding as to their philosophy of life. Through all of this, Forrest holds one thing true in his mind: Jenny. Jenny is his first and only love. Next to his mother, shes the most important thing in his life, and the only thing he really wants. Yet, despite constant disappointments concerning Jenny, Forrest maintains his sweet-tempered, innocently naà ¯ve philosophy of life. Voltaire and Zemeckis share a similar view concerning the corruptions within a society. While making a point that though corruption is evident, and life can be very uncertain, its entirely up to the individual as to the outcome of his or her future. Throughout their lives, Candide and Forrest experience just about everything that is humanly possible to endure. In the end, they both make the choice to wind up essentially where they began; content and fulfilled. In Candide, Voltaire uses general criticisms paired with specific examples to illustrate his idea concerning the contemporary corruption of the time. But even if the institution has become more well known, its role in Asia and more broadly in the world economy is not widely understood. It seems as if someone is always complaining about popular music on the market.   References to illegal drugs and sexual conduct are two of the most common complaints.   Adults claim that rock and roll stars are bad influences to children.   The lyrical content of songs and the examples set by musical idols are not suitable for minors.   Today's music, especially, tests the limits of good taste.   Objections to artists like Eminem, Lil' Kim, and Fred Durst are everyday occurrences, but what the judgmental public and media do not discuss is that these complaints are anything but new.   Songs by the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Doors have also been objects of this type of condemnation.   Even as far back as operas by Germany's Richard Wagner in the late 19th century, there exist examples of sexual behavior in music.   Perhaps these scornful antagonists should look into their own music collection before they burn their children's at the stake. The Beatles were English heartthrobs that took America by storm.   Songs like "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," and "When I Saw You," were teenage girls' anthems.
